Macbook m2 pro 14 inch never goes to restore mode
Been battling to try to make idevicerestore and usbmuxd make work for my macbook. It ALWAYS fails are the kernal cache/restoredisk part and then fails.
Gives image personalization error / the device could not go into restore mode.
If anyone got solution to it please let me know.
Until now I have.
- Tried windows idevicerestore version
- Fedora 42 live version
- Fedora installed version
- Installing fedora on an old laptop to see if it work
- Tried docker version but there it doesnt even pick the device.
I have downloaded all the IPSW files for the macbook and none of it work.
Error is persistent.
All the logs are here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19XpQ7_osn24FejQaNXFqmqpQ6GdK2-A2Fe3bNhiTt3E/edit?usp=sharing
So worried atm cause macbook is almost dead without being able to restore.
I'm 100% sure im missing something and its software issue or bug maybe.
Sorry, this isn't related to your current issue, but could you share how you managed to compile idevicerestore for Windows? I keep running into a segmentation fault after compiling it and have to use an Ubuntu virtual machine instead 😢 edit: Perhaps you should try macOS 15.0 IPSW, as I encountered a similar error with my MacBook Air M1 and fixed it by using an older macOS version as #729
@raccoon2k For windows I used Claude code really to guide through it, it just made it install properly
Regarding your recommendation if using 15.0 I literally tried all IPSW files even the latest ones that just came in beta and issue is same even with apple configurator 2
I'm not sure why not a single file works for me
Please re-test with latest code, I pushed a commit that hopefully fixes this.
