Parallel travis builds

Compile each build in parallel, added a convenience script for the old behavior.

I'd be willing to finish this if you like. I had forgotten that Travis now gives fewer minutes to OSS projects until I was mostly done with this PR. I hesitated to keep iterating on it since this increases the total minutes per build, and I'm not sure how much you care about build speed.
