Change name
Since Liberapay hasn't strong visual identity yet, I think the question of changing the name should be open.
I don't really get what would be the technical and legal impact, but I would like to go with something different than Liberapay which is "self descriptive" which is not a good point for a name.
Changing names takes a lot of time. We would need a very good reason to do it, and a new name that's actually better. You've provided neither.
Moreover, your claim that "self-descriptive" names aren't good clashes with the fact that many other crowdfunding platforms (e.g. Gratipay, BountySource (Salt), Patreon, Tipeee) also have names that refer to their nature.
A new name that's actually better would be a good reason to change. I didn't provide other name because I currently don't have a better idea. I made this thread specifically to start brainstorming.
If in the meantime we manage to close liberapay/liberapay.com#183, it may close this one.
Another reason to change name is that we don't have the twitter account: https://twitter.com/liberapay (already discussed here: #42)
