Vietnamese Translation

Open keevan opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Good day, I'm interested in adding Vietnamese to the list of translations available to the Core component but it is not available.

https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/liberapay/

After having tried multiple times by requesting manually, I felt that it would be better to raise an issue here, so that there is a 2-way communication.

I've already added translations for the other 2 components as it was very much a self-service (Liberapay Everywhere and Liberapay Glossary)

Please keep me updated, happy to help out.

I don't pay much attention to requests submitted through Weblate. I used to respond to them asking for confirmation, but then Weblate stopped providing the email address of the requester.

I don't have any objection to adding Vietnamese. It seems to have enough native speakers to be worth the translation effort, it is supported by Google Translate (a requirement so that I can at least try to understand and respond to emails from users), and PayPal seems to be available in Vietnam.

Cool. Yes, this request was not only for people in Vietnam, but also for those who may be native Vietnam speakers, who might reside in other countries and places, which I'm focusing my current efforts for. Also yes PayPal is available in Vietnam, I have a few friends who use the service.

I've resent the request, please ping once added (or I will just check the next time I'm around), thanks!

@Changaco I've resent the request, could you please add the language as an option so I can start adding translations for it? Thanks.

I have created the Vietnamese translation file.

(Resending the request through Weblate doesn't accomplish anything.)

Could you also include the Core component for Serbian and Croatian? The languages are very similar, so once the Serbian translation is done, I can run a Cyrillic-to-Latin transliteration script and review strings by hand.
