Allow projects to set suggested donation amounts

Open 12people opened this issue 1 month ago • 3 comments

It'd be great if projects could set their donation amounts.

In my case, I'd like to link to Liberapay from my app via a link "Donate $1 / month", but that seems misleading when that option isn't among those listed on the donation page.

Duplicate #975.

@trebmuh That issue seems to be centered around something a bit different. It says "This issue is to discuss possible changes to standard donation amounts.", so if I understand it correctly, any changes made as part of that issue would be changed for ALL projects.

What I'm suggesting is letting projects optionally set custom amounts, with no impact on any other project.

EDIT: Just as more evidence to back up my assumption about that issue:

In a comment, @brauliobo says "customizing the donations options is a basic need to adapt donations to each project, currency and receiver...", but the original issue author @Changaco replies "This isn't what this issue is about ..."

This is exactly what's my comment in #975 is about, and it's the more liked comment.

No, Changaco is telling brauliobo that his link is wrong. That's all.

By the way, you (as a project) can already suggest a donation amount with this kind of link: https://liberapay.com/brauliobo/donate?amount=50&currency=USD&period=monthly In this example, it's suggested to donate 50 USB / month. You can adapt it to your need if it's sufficient to match what you're trying to achieve.
