FR: Custom day end preference

Open r4zzz4k opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

Sometimes I do my daily logging after midnight. In these situations I run "Open daily note" command, see the note for the following day, not the one I'd like to fill out, condemn myself for sitting in front of the screen after midnight and open yesterday note via the calendar pane.

Some task management or habit tracking software has a concept of end-of-the-day time, which can be moved from midnight to some other value, like, for example, 2:00am. This way, if one marks the task done / habit fulfilled, this still attributes to the previous day.

I suggest adding something similar to Periodic notes:

  • Let's assume now is 2022-12-12, 0:24am.
  • User set end-of-the-day as 1am in plugin preferences.
  • On running "Open daily note" command, user gets the daily note for 2022-12-11.
  • If user runs the same command in an hour (at 1:24), she gets the note for 2022-12-12.

Same should go for commands for other note types -- weekly, monthly (and I assume yearly, though personally I hardly see myself sitting under the Christmas tree with Obsidian opened on the night of 1 of January 😊 ).
