Unfortunately it seems like that edition of GTA:SA is using a different savefile format. All the supported versions until the definitive edition used a savegame format with the extension `.b`,...
I can certainly help with implementation if someone manages to analyze the new format, but I am not very good at this. I originally took maintainership to fix UI issues...

Whoops, this actually is a duplicate of #97, I'll close this and track the progress in the original issue.
I'm not sure if this really is a separate issue or caused by the same bug, but I'll leave this issue open for now.
@ProfessionaFiddler can you say which version works? Unfortunately I can't. Maybe try the original version if none of the ones in this repo work...
Unfortunately I can't currently say when I'll get around to fix this. If anyone gets it working before I find time, please file a PR with the needed changes.

Thanks, I stumbled upon this as well yesterday. It seems that you don't even need to change anything in the cars/garages menu; this is a serious bug.
