TRT music editor for Vic 20 not working in Windows

Open AndyHOvine opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

There are a couple of issues with the TRT music editor:

If I open the Vic 20 tutorials and the music file "bubble.trt" from the resources / music folder, the 'System' tab show Adlib and it plays with the adlib instruments. Changing to Vic 20 has no effect.

If I create a new TRT file, with Vic 20 as the type and the default settings, when I enter notes I get an odd behaviour:

a) Type the first note and get a low-level slow tone starting to play and it does not stop. b) Type the next note and that tone stops. c) Type another note and get same behaviour as a)

It should be playing the correct tone as a short note sound and stop. In Adlib this is working. Appears to be just Vic 20 and only been able to test on Windows.

Additional- created a new TRT with the adlib setting. Getting the same behaviour. It seems the existing bubble.trt works ok (not the vic 20 system player though) but any new TRT I create exhibits the second problem above. TRSE also becomes unresponsive at times while a rogue note is playing.

Fixed now, please verify! 0) please note that instruments being played in TRSE are NOT related to adlib/beeper sounds at all.. it's just to provide some feedback. TRSE instruments are edited individually in the instruments tab->edit (TRSE instrument) a) a default instrument will now always be added when creating a TRT b) default octave is now 3 instead of 0, so you get an normal sounding note =)

please verify

That's working.

There is still one odd behaviour (testing on Windows). New editor, Vic 20. Press C - a note plays and does not stop. Press C (or D or any other valid key) and the note stops.

It should just play a brief note with each keypress shouldn't it? Oh hang on, a new TRT starts with the first instrument which is giving this behaviour. Change to Vic 20 instrument and it is working.

So it was the default instrument that does not work on the Vic system! Anyway, I think forcing octave 3 is not needed, and also a bit of a pain. Each time I change pattern the default gets set to octave 3. Can it be changed to just retain the last octave entered like it does when you add notes in a single pattern? Think that would work better?
