[Bug] Crashes when importing backup

Open claymorwan opened this issue 8 months ago • 14 comments

Describe the bug Photok crashes during the restoring part of the import backup

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open a blank install of photok
  2. Import backup
  3. Validate and wait
  4. App crashes

Expected behavior Fully importing the backup with no crashes.

Screenshots For some reason, it seems to always crash when hitting exactly 5GB of used storage (without counting cache). Image

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: Samsung A56
  • OS: Android 15
  • Browser: Firefox Nightly
  • Version 1.9.3

Additional context The file backup doesn't seem to be corrupted since it validates successfully, and it's not lack of storage either since this phone is brand new and has a lot of space left.

Interesting. Can you share the amount of memory of your device?

Memory as in RAM? If yes I got 8GB

Okay.

So what exactly do you mean by 5GB storage.

Are you restoring and after the crash the app says it has 5Gb of storage used? So it crashes when reaching 5GB of the backup?

Yea most likely, I tried wiping all of the app’s data then tried importing again and once it crashed, it was again at 5GB

Are you able to open the Zip file with a normal file browser. This should be possible and you should see a bunch of .photok files and a meta.json

yep I can

claymorwan avatar Apr 02 '25 21:04 claymorwan

Okay, so the file is not corrupted.

I will need to try to reproduce this.

Pretty sure this is also related to the issue of #462 Did you check the .tn and .vp files? If any of them have size 0 its the same problem

leonlatsch avatar May 29 '25 21:05 leonlatsch

Yea apparently there's seems to be, does that mean i gotta delete any files i had saved that are affected by this ?

claymorwan avatar May 29 '25 22:05 claymorwan

I just released version 1.9.4. This will skip those files in a backup (only thumbnail and video preview).

In the case of missing thumbnail or video preview you can export and import the file
