Page fault monitor is in use errors in middle of OpenVMS 8.4 installation

I tried to install OpenVMS Alpha 8.4-2L1 on axpbox and got some errors like 'page fault monitor is in use' errors in middle of installation then fatal opening error. When I answered 'no', it hung forever for several hours... I tried re-install it and got same results.

I was also unlucky when installing on a IDE-disk. I found out the ide-controller did hang after some time while installing OpenVMS. I installed succesfully on a SCSI disk.

Ok, I tried with SCSI disk emulation instead and successfully install OpenVMS system and system is up and running. That is so fast like VAX emulator on SIMH. It only took less than one hour to complete installation.

With 53c895 wide scsi controller, I tried to boot it but it kept get BUGCHK errors and tried to boot it again and again... I changed to 53c810 narrow scsi controller and succesfully booted system and completed installation.

You might look into 53c895 wide scsi emulation routines for debugging and fixing bugs.

If your using an ide drive for the cd and the disk, this could be the same issue as #8 .
