It sounds like the connection goes through but then some timeout occurred. Are you able to connect via kubectl proxy?

This looks to me like there is an issue with your controlplane somehow. If you are self-hosted, check that you can get at the url in your kubeconfig.

I saw this issue before when my loadbalancer wasn't working correctly to direct the traffic.
