Page title mods not reliably applied in Firefox

Open uxmaster opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Set the Modify page title (browser tab name) option to Hide account or Hide unread count and account
  2. Open the inbox
  3. Click on a message to enter a message view
  4. Go back to the inbox using the Esc key or the Back to Inbox button in the UI

The title will flash and eventually the default Gmail title will appear.

Oddly, if one uses the web browser's back button, it works as expected (title with hidden account).

Thanks. It seems this feature is very unreliable in Firefox. I'll have to look into it.

This feature is a balance of performance and reliability. The title changes a lot more than you'd think and at really odd times. And I can't observe when it changes so I check the title at key moments instead. But sometimes it changes back a second later.

FWIW, it works pretty reliably in Chrome: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/8763662/202605864-30c0e38e-e400-4cc9-9635-7992243871ff.mp4
