OpenBVE

OpenBVE Mac binary version always reports as v1.4.2, regardless of any official app binary version bump
Description
If I press the space button to quick look on the OpenBVE app (or go to the Get Info option on the right click menu), I always end up seeing the same version number, regardless of the actual version of OpenBVE it is right now.
I would try to fix the issue now, but it would only work until we have to bump the version again. There should be a more permanent solution rather than manually untar and retaring the app container for each release (such as maybe an addition to the build process code?)
Reproduction
Go to the directory where the OpenBVE app is currently in, then press the space bar to go into quick look, or right click and click on the Get Info option. The version will be reported as 1.4.2, when it should actually be 1.8.4.2 (or the current release version).

Good point :/
The trouble was that the Mac app needs the internal stuff starting with a period, and specific permissions on it's internal bits. These are hidden / useless on anything else, and were causing issues with the build, hence the quick fix several years ago of just tarring the thing up.
Try the build from today, and see what that looks like. Version number should now match that in the main menu.
I think this should work, but not got a Mac to hand.
I think they're slightly mismatched, but its on track
