Website outdated infos - Want to check it out regardless!
Hey, I just stumbled upon your software as we are looking to streamline our accounting away from Excel. I also saw you have invoicing, for which we have been using InvoiceNinja the last years but we keep stumbling upon silly limitations.
So I wanted to check out LedgerSMB but the Demo subpage is 10 years old and links to a non-working cloud provider. So I guess I need to set it up to try, which is also not that big of a deal...
What I am curious about is German law compliance - is there an option to make a DATEV-compatible accounting export to deliver the tax? Can it handle expenses by employees? Are the invoice templates in a format that fits the letterhead nicely into a letter window? (that trivial polish has been missing in Ninja and nobody bothers!)
Same here, I don't think I got the demo to load.
We are actively working on improving the installation process.
While not totally debugged and ready for release, you try the instructions at https://get.ledgersmb.org. Please report any problems with this method. We are making improvements daily and it is a very high priority to get released.
The current recommended way to install, not using the above, is to use a docker container. See https://github.com/ledgersmb/ledgersmb-docker.
If you need more specific help, please add an issue here, or contact us on Matrix
Sorry, I do not know answer to the question about German law.

In the past, I searched for documentation of what DATEV is and what requirements they have. In principle, the answer is "Yes", because all templates receive the entire balance sheet: the PDF output, HTML output and CSV output are all based on the same input. However, to know if this addresses your requirements entirely, a closer check will be required. If it's not covered and the differences are small, I guess the project is happy to serve you and add what it is that is missing.
Can it handle expenses by employees?
Not at the moment; this was recently discussed as a nice addition.

The PDF invoices can be defined in LaTeX/TeX or in HTML. Both allow quite exact positioning of content in the PDF output. Therefore I'm inclined to say "yes".

@xeruf , @Anonymo : While not the demo, I can provide you with a sandbox environment to play with, if you are interested.
yeah open for a sandbox :) if this project serves us well we are very happy to contribute long-term
https://demo.cloud.efficito.com/erp/1.5/ is still a bad gateway, any updates here? :)
