--color does not work in Windows CMD or Powershell

Must be something with the escape character. Oddly, the colors work fine in an embedded CMD window in Visual Studio Code. Windows term colors are supposed to be the same ANSI codes as linux, this is supposed to work out of the box.

Have you tried --color in Windows Terminal?

That program was developed for Windows 10 and later.


Mintty furthermore is described as Xterm-compatible.
