Payee name gets separate by large amount of space when using align-current function

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the ledger mode first. I have recently moved from GnuCash to ledger and the emacs ledger mode has made the transition a lot easier. Thank you all!

I noticed that the name of the payee gets separated by large amount of space when I use the align-current function to align an entry (please see screenshot below).

I have to manually remove the spaces every time after using the align-current function. I was wondering whether others have encountered the same issue and whether there is a fix for it.
