Possible fix for new mono
I just got the game running on latest mono by deleting the security dll from the top folder (it's part of a standard mono distribution anyway)
@singpolyma How would I confirm this? I already have the "recommended" Mono installed.
@boneskull try deleting the DLL and see if it fixes things for you?
I don’t know anything about DLLs or what folder you mean... was looking for step-by-step
Should be in the same folder as the executable? Unless it's laid out differently on the Mac
file name?
Cool, good to know! Thanks for the hint :)
I should at some point get my SpaceChem fix dev environment up again, play around with this, and update the wiki with clear instructions so that people who want to bring their own Mono know what to do.
I probably won't upgrade the version of Mono shipped in the patcher because MonoKickStart is just so fiddly...
(Ideas if Mac OS X ever loses 32-bit support: Look for symbols called in SpaceChem's "libnative.dylib", see if we can reverse engineer the functionality & port it to .NET. Use e.g. Facepunch.SteamWorks for steam calls.)
(Not that I'm a very ...um... responsive? maintainer. I hope to get this done before 2021.)
meh, maybe Zachtronics should do it 😝
