it's about the same when using `--use-pixman`. (i tested it using weston, wayland and xwayland from master because the version in jessie has some bugs.)

i believe it sets weston to use software rendering EDIT: "Use the pixman (CPU) renderer"

i tried running flare with ``` hwsurface=0 doublebuf=0 ``` and it was just as smooth in weston as in X11. there's some occasional lower frequency jitteriness, but it's much better.

i noticed that under weston flare reports that it's using software rendering even when flare is set to use hardware rendering. when set to use hw rendering, the cpu usage...

oh another thing: i noticed that hw rendering mode isn't actually available on my ~8 year old system under x11 either.

flare requires xwayland when using weston on my system. i'm using debian jessie with weston and wayland builds from upstream master branches.

i'm using a new debian jessie install on my old system. flare freezes weston if i have xwayland installed. without xwayland installed i can hear the audio but see nothing....
