[Workaround] Android application's synchronisation suddenly fails

Open Freeedim opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

The Android app won't pull new notes created in the desktop Linux app, although the new notes were successfully uploaded to the Nextcloud (v22) folder "Joplin". Encryption enabled.

It has worked flawlessly for years, and the problem appeared around the end of May 2022. The sync configuration test and encryption status are reported as good. Despite, the synchronisation status seems to report bad figures: Note: 171/171 Folder: 18/18 Resource: 59/65 Tag: 0/2 NoteTag: 0/5 MasterKey: 0/2 Revision: 0/16 Total: 248/279

Conflicts: 0 To be deleted: 0

I ran an index repairing but it did not change anything.

When trying to sync, the app displays: "TypeError: null is not an object (evaluating 'e.stat.size')"

Everything works flawlessly the other way around: if i create or update a note in the Android app, it will sync normally Ith Nextcloud and it will be propagated normally to the Linux desktop app.

Environment

Joplin version: 2.8.1 (and 2.7.1 too) Platform: Android OS specifics: Android 10

All the "Note" and "Markdown" switches are enabled except "enable abbreviation syntax" and "enable emoji syntax" (Sorry, I don't have the app in English, so the actual labels might be a bit different).

Steps to reproduce

(Not sure these steps are enough to reproduce. There must be something more that I don't understand)

  1. create a note in the Linux desktop app, which is connected to a Nextcloud platform with the Nextcloud connection type, with encryption enabled.
  2. Wait for the sync or force it
  3. Wait for the Android app to sync or force it to
  4. See the error message and see how the new note does not appear in the Android app.

Describe what you expected to happen

Expected to have what I used to have: sync without error message, and new notes appearing.

Found a workaround: Replacing "Nextcloud" sync by "webDAV" sync, and keeping the same everywhere else. It re-synced everything and all is working now.
