[BUG] Sometimes unable to navigate away from inbox

Description

A few times recently when I click on a notification while not having sync open and get brought to my inbox, I end up unable to navigate out. I click the "front-page" on the side and nothing happens, or I type out a subreddit and nothing happens.

I've tried fiddling with other parts of the app but ultimately it won't let me go anywhere but the mailbox.

If I kill the app and reopen it works fine, and going to my inbox from the app being open and navigating to it work fine.

Sync version: v22.06.01-22:40    
Sync flavor: pro    

View type: Slides    
Push enabled: false    

Device: ginkgo    
Model: Xiaomi Redmi Note 8    
Android: 12

I also have pixel experience rom if it matters.

Edit: it seems inconsistent, just tried again and it worked fine but it's happened a few times recently so I'll edit this if I figure out the missing variable

steps to reproduce reliably:

  1. Open sync from notification
  2. Open message
  3. Press back so you should be back in your inbox
  4. Press explore and try and navigate to a subreddit
  5. Nothing happens

Just wanted to say that this happens very consistently for me. Steps to replicate are almost the same as posted by @pwd-github.

  1. Click New Message Sync notification
  2. Sync opens into the message from the notification
  3. Press back (gesture navigation swipe from edge) to get back to inbox
  4. Unable to leave inbox by going back, by selecting Explore, by opening try and selecting any subreddit.
  5. In all scenarios, Sync just remains stuck in Inbox.

I can get around this by repeatedly opening the side tray and clicking on subreddits. It usually takes 3 or 4 tries before it kicks in and finally takes me out of Inbox. Sometimes it's a few more than that. I will try to pay closer attention.

I am on a Pixel 6a, and also experienced the same issue on my Pixel 4a which I had up until a couple months ago.

Current app version is Pro, v22.08.01-13:26 (22060). It's persisted for quite a while now through multiple updates.

Can we please look into fixing this? It's extremely annoying when receiving multiple messages.
