High CPU usage

Open lathiat opened this issue 6 years ago • 5 comments

From: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/avahi/+bug/1799265

attached avahi.zip from LP shows "Registering new address record" constantly 100s of times per second. Previous to that for many days it would withdraw/publish every few seconds.

I think that's an issue known elsewhere I need to track down. But the constant registering seems new. Probably some kind of timing bug?

me too, when I attach to the internet of my college, it is extremely power hungry.

I have this issue too. Is there a known workaround other than disabling IPv6? Please let me know if I can help in debugging.

Samething here, it happens only when connected to my university network or eduroam. Is there any instructions to debug?

Running into the same problem; any insight into how to debug or what could be causing this?

Edit: I switched from Debian (avahi 0.7) to Ubuntu 20.10 (avahi 0.8) with reflector turned on and IPv6 disabled for both. Ubuntu 20.10 didn’t have the same high CPU usage problem as the older Debian build. I also found that avahi-utils has a tool called avahi-browse that lets you look at what’s being seen, but that didn’t help me to pinpoint the issue in Debian. https://linux.die.net/man/1/avahi-browse

I am experiencing this same issue with eduroam at my university, currently on avahi 0.8. I have little experience with Avahi, so any advice on settings that could potentially fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
