If you remove the irregular time point from the sequence, create a new storage node for it (by deleting its old storage node; or by cloning to create new node)...

To me, it seems that the current default behavior (alignPopupVertically=True) is better for keeping the popup in a reachable location. Could you please provide an example screenshot of a case...
Since we now support shared labelmaps, it could be easier to develop this feature, but the design might be still quite complicated.
