Really excited about this project. Thank you!
I'm Latvian and all things fine AĀBCČDEĒFGĢHIĪJKĶLĻMNŅOŌPRŖSŠTUŪVZŽaābcčdeēfgģhiījkķlļmnņnoōprŗsštuūvzž (ō and ŗ were dropped at the first half of 20th century, but some texts still come up)
You could merge this wishlist with https://github.com/larsenwork/Gidole/issues/6
Personaly, the ultimate wishlist would be:
- Finalise Cyrillic support on Gidole Regular
- Gidole Italic which would show which characters need what adjustments after slanting the uprights (and most probably will apply to any other weights). Fyi, for my favorite DIN variation - PF DIN - uprights are slanted at 10.98° (79.02°)
- Gidole Bold
- Gidole Bold Italic
- Gidole Light. Meaning "Light" ~realative to "Regular" as in PF DIN PDF Brochure, page 8. It is really usable on screen at body text sizes. With softish background-to-typeface contrast it goes to "thinish", but still readable. Imho, "Light" should be readable at 1em (16px) on screen. "Thin" and "Extra Thin/Hairline" as separate weights is overkill for open-source-one-man-maintained typeface :)
- Gidole Light Italic
At this point having 6 style family w/ latin-ext, cyrillic, greek... this is serious.
Cheers, and thanks for feedback + suggestions
I think finishing cyrillic and perfecting some characters + spacing has the highest priority right now but that doesn't mean I haven't started doing other stuff too like thin+light version (you can see some thin characters on http://larsenwork.com in the logo)
The reasoning behind creating the thin first is to interpolate light from regular + thin
I have already added ō and ŗ (they are maybe only in the source and not the ttf just yet)
all the characters listed in my comment are in ttf as of 08.01.2015, also ō and ŗ. can't wait for 4 style set (2 weights + italic) thanks!
