FB16148873 - Updating an extension in the App Store with the extension's Settings open disables the extension

iOS 18.2 on iPhone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download and enable a Safari extension
  2. Wait for an extension app update in the App Store
  3. Select the extension in Safari Extensions Settings
  4. Update the extension in the App Store

Expected results: The extension is still enabled.

Actual results. The extension is disabled. Settings says, "(null) is not supported by this version of Safari."

Notes: I first noticed this issue with my own Safari extension StopTheMadness Pro. To reproduce the issue, I downloaded a bunch of Safari extensions from the App Store and waiting for updates. I've now reproduced the bug with at least two other extensions, Capital One Shopping and KashKick.

This initially appeared to be fixed, but it's actually not fixed. I've filed a new Feedback FB17089367.

The extension is enabled immediately after updating, but after it delay it automatically becomes disabled.
