Correct written out umlaut to its respective character

Sometimes in German texts, people with international keyboards write ue, oe or ae instead of ü, ö or ä. One could suggest replacing them instead of showing that the word is wrong.

E.g.:

There has been an approach to this topic before, but since there are many exceptions (aktuell, manuell, genauer…), we decided to rely on the speller for now, which suggests the correct variant anyway. Nevertheless, we will discuss new approaches internally. 🙂

Okay, good to hear! I see your point. Regarding the suggestions of the speller I noticed that for some words which include multiple Umlaute it fails to come up with a correct suggestion. It seems like the distance between the two words is too large in these cases.
