Data gathering question

Hi, I was wondering could you share a little about how you collected the raw data for this awesome app? Does OpenSecrets provide an api you could use or is this manually gleaned info from doing search queries in OpenSecrets.org?

For instance, I searched Mitt Romney and it's not obvious which contributors are related to gun right support without doing a little more research.

I want to use this as a baseline for a site about lobbying related to big pharma or net neutrality. Thanks
