No point cloud present when running launch file

my problem is probably due to a network connection error / mismatch; however, once I follow the instructions from http://wiki.ros.org/velodyne/Tutorials/Getting%20Started%20with%20the%20Velodyne%20VLP16, I am able to visualize the point cloud from the lidar in RViz. Then I exit out of the application and run the following: roslaunch loam_velodyne loam_velodyne.launch (or hector_loam_velodyne, same problem exists), I don't see anything in RViz once it pops open. All I can see is that "No tf data. Actual error: Fixed Frame [camera_init] does not exist (also, manually changing this parameter doesn't work, as well as there are no options to select when applying the drop down menu). Do you have any ideas on how I can debug this? Also, sorry if it's obvious, I'm new to using ROS and RViz. Thank you!

*Note - I did have this working before (once), but then I shut down my computer and haven't been able to get it to work since.
