fix printing to correct place so it works

• make scripts executable
• print opts to stderr not stdout so it works like $(sind whatever)
• replace calls to printf >&2 with new printferr function
• test.sh supports arbitrairly wide terminals now, apparently 151 was too wide
• fix j/k direction, I may have given you the wrong directions originally and I never updated my local copy
