Something definitely should be done with large block originally unicast IP's used by old companies. I personally worked at some point in the company where /8 was used as private...

Pretty lot of small ISP's run on old outdated equipment which hasn't got updated for the last 10-15 years. Cisco, Juniper, HP etc won't put any effort into updating those...

There is probably no chance since the author works on an alternative solution.
