WiFi calling does not work on airplane mode with WiFi connection

First and foremost, thank you very much for releasing the VoLTE patch as it is really important to have this feature without the need for rooting just for this to work.

I tried the VoLTE patch using Pixel 6a and it is working both VoLTE and VoWiFi with the latest February 2023 update except for the VoWiFi when airplane mode is enabled with a WiFi connection. Maybe something needs to be looked into this as well.

FWIW I also have this behavior with a carrier that has VoWiFi enabled by default (Movistar ES) on a Pixel 7, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Pixel issue and not entirely related to the patch.

I confirm it works with the patch, version 1.2.0, Vodafone RO (226-01) So, if it works with some carriers but not others...it might be carrier specific.

@combathero32 @arsradu Interesting. Perhaps this behavior can also be configurable by carriers. Can you dump your current carrier settings here? It can be done by adb shell dumpsys carrier_config. Evaluating them will help me clarify the issue correctly.

Then could this be carrier specific...? Meaning, some carriers allow this, while other don't...? I don't have another explanation.

Another thing worth to mention that the VoWiFi in airplane mode works on iPhone 13 and Xiaomi phones. Unfortunately, I sold my Xiaomi phone in replacement for the Pixel 6a so I don't have a chance to pull the carrier_config.

Reopening this issue as this is the same case. First of all again, thank you for your work, it really is a shame that ISP/manufacturers cannot make this work. I have a Pixel 6 with Movistar in Spain and cannot get VoWifi to work while in airplane mode and connected to wifi only, while it works when also connected to 4G/5G (not 3G as then it doesn't get IMS registration). With the same SIM on a Samsung Galaxy S10+ (Exynos version), VoWifi works perfectly while in airplane mode. Here is the carrier config of the Galaxy S10+: s10p-carrier_config.txt I hope with your experience you can identify where the issue might come from. I have both devices here and can help / provide any further info that you need. I'm hopeful with your help we will make it work this time.

After last year, I would gladly report that this issue is now solved with the June 2024 Google update with the Pixel IMS patch, as Google Pixel now officially recognizes my local telco.
