(Paper) Disconnecting while riding an entity will cause that entity to be lost in limbo

Open UpYoursMicrosoft opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

When you disconnect while riding an entity (horse, boat, etc.) then log back in to limbo, the mount will be gone when you log back in. The mount seems to be transported to limbo with you because the camera glitches, the "Press left shift to dismount" text appears, and you can see your horse's hearts at the bottom of the screen.

Attempting to dismount while in limbo will result in a kick for flying if the player is in survival mode, which then triggers a teleport back to spawn on the next login, noted in #108.

When my cracked account has a valid session, it can log in without the mount disappearing. I don't have access to a premium account to test whether or not premium auto-login has this issue.

This was observed on the latest build of Paper 1.20.4, 478, on the latest LibreLogin version, 0.19.6.

@UpYoursMicrosoft Hi, the only fix I can think of is just dismounting players from entities when logging off. Would this be acceptable, or would it have unintended consequences?

Sorry, I rarely log in to GitHub. That seems like a good way to do it. In practice, I would have to remember to dismount before logging off so this would automate the workaround. The only consequence I can think of is that your horse might wander away, but that would require the chunks to be loaded by another player. I just tested it and AuthMeReloaded will indeed dismount you when logging off. Not sure about how it would work on a vanilla server.
