Doesn't work with bluetooth headphones on Macbook M2 Pro
Example bug report template
Don't worry if you have trouble getting some of this info. Just leave it out.
Description of the bug
When I connect to my MacBook with my Sony XM4s and use the BackgroundMusic application, I do not get any audio output.
Note: When I unpair my headphones and use the Background Music application with my MacBook speakers, the sound is distorted. It might be related to BackgroundMusic#646. (EDIT: This doesn't seem to always be the case. I'm just trying again now with my macbook speakers, and things seem to be working fine).
Steps to reproduce
- Connect your Sony XM4 to the macbook as you would pair any bluetooth device.
- Click on the volume and brightness settings on the menu bar.
- Click on the box labelled "Sound".
- In the menu of outputs that pops up, select "Background Music".
Versions
Please complete the following information.
- Background Music: 0.4.0
- macOS: Ventura (13.2.1 (22D68))
Hardware
- Computer: [e.g. "MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2023, Apple M2 Pro, 16GB Ram)".
- Audio Device: Sony XM4

Okay, this is weird. When I switch the output application on the Background Music menu bar option to my MacBook speakers, things seem to be working. When I switch back to my headphones, audio plays for a few seconds as expected but then stops again.
I am having the same issue with bose bluetooth headphones on my M2 pro, except I get no audio switching back to system speakers. Also it appeared to disable my microphone.
Experiencing the same issue with my Jabra Elite Pro 7 but on my M1 macbook (2021). System output is going to Background Music. When background music is set to output to Jabra Elite Pro 7 there is no sound. If I change background music to either my connected monitor speakers, or the macbook internal speakers there is sound.
