Doesn't play well with Krisp (a macOS app for background noise reduction during video calls)

Example bug report template

Don't worry if you have trouble getting some of this info. Just leave it out.

Description of the bug If you have https://krisp.ai/ running to clean up your audio during calls, and you install BackgroundMusic, the music stops playing and Krisp complains that it is no longer your speaker in Zoom.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce the bug. This usually doesn't need to be super detailed.

  1. Install Krisp and follow its setup instructions, including setting it to be your speaker & mic in the Zoom videoconferencing app
  2. Play music (in my case, in a web browser)
  3. Install BackgroundMusic (in my case, via cask).
  4. Observe music stops playing and krisp issues an alert.

Versions

Please complete the following information.

  • Background Music: sorry I already uninstalled it, not sure, probably latest as of bug report time.
  • macOS: macOA Monterey 12.6 (21G115)

Other info I don't think it's a big deal, probably would be too hard to fix, just want to report. IMO you can close this unless/until a lot of people complain, and then you may need to coordinate with the Krisp team about a good fix.
