Only noise when external audio device selected as output inside the app

Hi there!

The problem I stumbled upon is that I only get noise as output signal, when inside the app I route the output to my external audio device and my Mac’s audio output is set to Background Music.

I use Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 audio device with USB connection.

Also, no matter which method I use to install the app, I always get the same problem.

My macOS is Sierra version 10.12.6

Inside the Audio MIDI Setup Background Music is double displayed - the first one says only "Background Music" and the other one says "Background Music (UI Sounds). Don't know if that has any importance.

Since the audio device has it's own virtual mixer which is used to route different input sources to different physical outputs, I guess there might be some compatibility issue between the app and the virtual mixer of the audio device.

Does any one have any proven solution for this type of problem?

Same here (Scarlett 6i8). I suppose this won't be fixed, since the application hasn't been updated in 8 months or so...

It sounds like this is probably happening because your audio device has more than two channels. Background Music only supports two-channel devices so far. Happy to look at a PR if anyone wants to work on this.
