Distorted audio when using Zoom and Airpods
Just what the title say. I have a pair on AirPod Pros. When I'm in a zoom call, the audio is distorted when Zoom output preference is set to Background Music.
I think this since something to do with them being bluetooth. Do you have any idea how to get around this issue?
EDIT: NOT JUST A ZOOM PROBLEM
Hearing the same distortion. With Zoom active and using airpods (v1, not pros), sound quality for all other audio sources becomes terrible. Tried a restart, disconnecting/reconnecting bluetooth device.
Similar issue I guess, but I am using an MPOW bluetooth headset. So It might be a general issue with bluetooth.
I'm facing the same issue, even with the latest release.
Same here, but with Bluetooth headphones.
The issue is that because they aren't wired headphones. Bluetooth headphones only have enough bandwidth for videos and such, and live calls/streaming can result in distorted audio. You need to use wired headphones to avoid this issue.
Tried wired and it did not work at all. Distorted with Bluetooth. Curiously, it did work when joining after a reboot with Bluetooth but a subsequent Zoom meeting had distorted audio again.
I used my AirPods to join a meeting, then launched BackgroundMusic, and they worked fine. The next time that I joined a Zoom with BackgroundMusic open it had the distortion.
Having the same issue with distortion in everything with AirPods. EDIT: Using background music pre from brew it works EDIT 2: only works with headphones plugged in using AirPods and the sound is still a little distorted.
same issue with Airpod Pro. Anything sent through Background Music and then outputting to bluetooth headphones is distorted
Hey guys I found the problem. Unfortunately, as a person who is almost useless in swift, I need a little bit of help trying to solve it. If you guys go to audio MIDI while using AirPods or AirPods pro you will notice it is in 2 different audio devices. Both of these audio devices are for 1 ear and are both single channels at 8000 Hz.(images below)
This however is not the case with background music. Which will only create 1 audio device.(image below)
If you look closely you will also notice how it is in a different format(That cannot be changed)
So if any of you understand the MIDI swift APIs please add a solution.
I got background music to work with airpods pros by changing the airpods pro audio device
After doing this opening zoom will try to change it back to 1 channel. There is no point trying to fight this as it happens over and over. Zoom will then create a Aggregate device and a zoomAudioDevice. Ignore the zoom audio device as it will fix on its own. Go the aggregate devices and change whatever the name of the airpods pro is to background music and change the sampling rate to 48.0 kHz. Remember to change the clock source to background music.
EDIT: Nmv after some time background music chrashes. and then when it starts up its all broken again.
I'm having this issue as well. Seems like it only happens with bluetooth audio devices and Zoom.
Also happens on Google Meet
Same on Microsoft Teams
Having same issue, when changed audio source to background music on zoom still happens.
