Connection suddenly stopped working

Open koningboy18 opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

After working flawlessly for about 3 days my VPN connection has suddenly stopped working. Now it connects but i can't get an internet connection, i can also not connect to computers on the access server's local network. I have not made any changes to the ovpn file or the docker container. This happens on multiple computers using tunnelblick and i have the same problem on my phone using the OpenVPN client app.

Seems like I'm having same issue, but for me timeframe is not three days, but something about month or two.

Initially I thought it is issue with my VPS, but it already happened three times with servers that are hosted by different providers that are located it different parts of the world. So the issue is definitely with a docker image.

Maybe there's some limit for something or I don't know.

Everything works flawlessly for about a month or two, but then it feels like internet is just cut out. The only way to make it work - is to reinstall server and have a clean install of docker image.

I have a similar issue, the VPN works nicely for a few months and then it seemingly freezes, clients can't connect and there's no more log output.

For me it's enough to reset the GCE VM which runs the container, but I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to monitor the OpenVPN container somehow to know when it stops working? I don't use my VPN all the time so it's very annoying to figure it stopped working on the occasion I do need it 😿
