I'd like to be able to select text out of the channel topic and click URL links there.

Type /topic and press Enter.

Thanks, that sounds useful! Would be nice if I could still retrieve it from the header. Does /topic spam the channel or just reply directly to me?

Only you can see the output of that command.

For what it's worth, if you double-click the topic box to put it into edit mode, you can select text in it.

Being able to click URLs straight from the topic box would be nice though.

If you want to be able to select text or click links from the topic bar, it'd probably be useful to have line-wrap as well, since currently part of the topic is hidden for overly long topics. Which would be weird having one without the other.
