If you are on linux did you try running as sudo?

I am having the same issue. I ran $ sudo hue_ui and it gave me this error message: QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root'

@Legion69x I can't duplicate this error and it looks like Legion69x abandoned the issue since there was never a response. @stamatim is having a separate issue with a totally different error. This should be closed as I can't duplicate unless I'm not running as root.

@GarlandKey I'm having the same issue on a fresh Windows 10 install.

I'm receiving the same error running sudo hue_ui:

From the ui: Serial port is invalid. Try /dev/ttyACM0 for Linux or COM3 or COM4 for Windows

Terminal: QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root'
