Thunderbolt 3, USB-C connectivity issues
I only have one RX 470 eGPU with ADT-Link TB3 adapter, with that I have some connectivity issues in macOS. As far as I can see it's something has to do with the OS, or the adapter itself.
Note: Unfortunately, I don't have any other TB3 or Type-C devices to test with, so these maybe okay for others.
The issues:
-
At System Info -> Thunderbolt it says "No drivers loaded". That is cosmetic, the devices are showing up in PCI
-
If you disconnect the eGPU the notebook will freeze (high CPU usage), you need to restart
- I really think that this is an OS issue. -> NO, it is an issue related to my ADT-Link TB3 adapter. It is not a bug.
-
After sleep hot-plug is not working with the TB3 eGPU (device not detected)
- Workaround: Plug the TB3 in, put the notebook into sleep, wake it up. It may fail sometimes, try it again if that is the case
- After a while, I can say that this issue is totally random. Sometimes appearing, sometimes not.
