Mouse Wheel Not Working in Plugin Version

Open mfisher31 opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

I have found a new issue though: the mouse wheel is not detected inside a plugin if the follow steps are taken.

  1. Open Ableton Live project with Elements vst.
  2. Open plugin X UI inside Elements vst.
  3. Close Elements vst.
  4. Save Ableton Live project.
  5. Quit Ableton
  6. Reopen Ableton LIve project (Elements vst UI will be closed).
  7. Open Elements vst. The X plugin UI window was left open so it is restored.
  8. The mouse wheel doesn't work inside the X plugin UI.
  9. Close X plugin UI, reopen X plugin UI
  10. The mouse wheel works again inside the X plugin.

"X plugin" means any plugin but I have tested only with one in partcular. If you can't reproduce it with one plugin of your let me know and I would send you mine.

Sounds like a problem of focus maybe?

Seems pretty easily reproducible. Tested in Renoise and Bitwig on Windows 10: Element v1.46.0

  1. load a new Element VST
  2. add Reason Rack Plugin -or- ProQ3 to the graph (plugins where mouse wheel is a critical workflow part)
  3. open the plugin gui
  4. try to use mouse wheel to scroll through the Reason Rack -or- to change the Q Value in ProQ3 (it wont work)

Edit: The VST plugin Unify based also on Juce and have the same issue. So maybe its related to the framework. Edit2: Also other JUCE based plugins in the past: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=359912
