Inclusion in f-droid

Open robinpaulson opened this issue 7 years ago • 4 comments

A number of people have requested sl4a be included in f-droid, a FLOSS repo of software for Android. There are a few questions to be answered before the software can be included, perhaps you could assist?

Cheers

Hello, what is assist? I believe SL4A is apache-2.0 FLOSS, and f-droid is helpful to us.

One of the conditions of fdroid inclusion is to notify upstream and ask for commentary/suggestions. In particular here, there are also questions about prebuilt libraries and their licences, specifically those in https://github.com/kuri65536/sl4a/tree/master/android/ScriptingLayerForAndroid/libs. I have posted an answer at the link above, but I am not 100%. If you could read the comments and clarify, that would be excellent.

Thank you for your explanation.

I did not realize SL4A use the 'Locale' plugin: platform_locale.jar. There is a possibility that some people use this feature, but I don't use it.

I checked the 'Locale' plugin at https://www.twofortyfouram.com/developer/ . Plugin is apache-2 source.

Do you need the help to change the source of SL4A? There are plan to clearing SL4A License.

  • If License is clear by above link, no need to change.
  • Release new SL4A, remove the 'Locale' plugin, it may be easy.
  • Release new SL4A, renew the 'Locale' plugin to newer version, this may clear the license, but I do not know about 'Locale'.
