Document how to snapshot volumes and work with snapshots

Open sftim opened this issue 9 months ago • 2 comments

This is a Feature Request

What would you like to be added Within the tasks section, add a page about working with storage snapshots.

Also update the following pages to link to the new task page:

  • https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/storage/persistent-volumes/
  • https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/storage/volume-snapshots/
  • https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/storage/volume-snapshot-classes/

Why is this needed We provide the ability to take snapshots, but we don't really have a page that helps you take a snapshot, or to work with a snapshot you already have. Snapshots are useful; for example, if you want a backup as a way to protect against failure.

If feasible, we should explain the use cases (such as backup), not just the bare mechanics.

This issue is currently awaiting triage.

SIG Docs takes a lead on issue triage for this website, but any Kubernetes member can accept issues by applying the triage/accepted label.

The triage/accepted label can be added by org members by writing /triage accepted in a comment.

Instructions for interacting with me using PR comments are available here. If you have questions or suggestions related to my behavior, please file an issue against the kubernetes-sigs/prow repository.

@abhilasha2418 thanks for trying this out. Do make sure to test that the task documentation is correct.

The Kubernetes project currently lacks enough contributors to adequately respond to all issues.

This bot triages un-triaged issues according to the following rules:

  • After 90d of inactivity, lifecycle/stale is applied
  • After 30d of inactivity since lifecycle/stale was applied, lifecycle/rotten is applied
  • After 30d of inactivity since lifecycle/rotten was applied, the issue is closed

You can:

  • Mark this issue as fresh with /remove-lifecycle stale
  • Close this issue with /close
  • Offer to help out with Issue Triage

Please send feedback to sig-contributor-experience at kubernetes/community.
