Minikube start failing for Service deployment

Open bdparrish opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

What Happened?

I am unable to get a simple Service NodePort to be exposed to the host machine.

minikube start

😄 minikube v1.28.0 on Darwin 12.5 (arm64)
✨ Using the docker driver based on user configuration
📌 Using Docker Desktop driver with root privileges
👍 Starting control plane node minikube in cluster minikube
🚜 Pulling base image ...
🔥 Creating docker container (CPUs=2, Memory=8100MB) ...
🐳 Preparing Kubernetes v1.25.3 on Docker 20.10.20 ...
    ▪ Generating certificates and keys ...
    ▪ Booting up control plane ...
    ▪ Configuring RBAC rules ...
🔎 Verifying Kubernetes components...
    ▪ Using image gcr.io/k8s-minikube/storage-provisioner:v5
🌟 Enabled addons: storage-provisioner, default-storageclass
🏄 Done! kubectl is now configured to use "minikube" cluster and "default" namespace by default

Following the documentation here

Add deployment and service

kubectl create deployment hello-minikube --image=kicbase/echo-server:1.0
kubectl expose deployment hello-minikube --type=NodePort --port=8080

Forward the service through minikube

minikube service hello-minikube

This fails with ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

The alternative is working

kubectl port-forward service/hello-minikube 7080:8080
