Hi @afzal442. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes-sigs member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.

is it possible to add a test case to verify that warning messages are output correctly?

sorry! I don't think so. could you advise here?

@afzal442 This is because the existence of tests ensures new features will work correctly in the future and allows us to verify that functionality remains stable even when making subsequent changes. As a policy, pull requests adding features without corresponding tests will not be merged. https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kustomize/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#reviewer-guide

Hi there, @afzal442!

Adding on to @koba1t's previous message, we currently have tests for this functionality under api/types/kustomization_test.go: https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kustomize/blob/f23d45fcb4747bc72ed93432a4b0c1215cb5a237/api/types/kustomization_test.go#L19-L95
