Option to delete DNS records only if source is completely deleted

What would you like to be added: Option to delete DNS records only if source is completely deleted, i.e. not if source only loose IP information or change status. Why is this needed: We are in GKE, using gateway-httproute as source for external-dns. We had two situations when all the DNS records were deleted

  • Google Cloud APIs started throttling API requests (probably to mitigate some other provider incident), thx to that gke-gateway-controller updated gateway resource with no ip information in status.address. A bit later also changed one of th the status.conditions.
  • Typo in one new HTTPRoute caused one of gateway status.conditions to change to "False"

In both cases external-dns should delete DNS record only if HTTPRoute is deleted - ie not deleting in case gateway is not in the perfect conditions.

We have the same issue - especially the part where a single faulty HTTPRoute breaks the entire gateway sync is a real annoyance, it would be great if at least external-dns would not delete the records.
