Same domain name using fqdn template with Service and Ingress
What happened: FQDN template is either poorly documented or I can't find needed information. Are .Name and .Namespace the only variables available? This is not enough information to provide unique domain name when using fqdn templates in example below, what is needed is something like .Type or .Kind that will provide information about what kind of object we are dealing with (either ingress or service).
What you expected to happen: Better documentation about what variables are available in fqdn templates. Ability to create unique domain names that take object type into account when using fqdn templates.
How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible):
https://gist.github.com/boniek83/78a19750fe60e546483ba5895816cbe6
fqdnTemplates:
- "{{.Name}}.{{.Namespace}}.home.local"
Anything else we need to know?:
Environment:
- External-DNS version (use
external-dns --version
): v0.8.0 - DNS provider: PowerDNS
- Others: Kubernetes 1.19, bitnami chart 4.12.3
