Contributors Guide to Trainer v2 Docs
The development of Trainer v2 is currently in progress, with various issues being tracked under a dedicated GitHub project. While this structure helps with visibility into development tasks, there is currently no contributor guidance specific to Trainer v2. Key resources like relevant Slack channels, Google Docs, and active discussion threads are not clearly mentioned or linked anywhere on the site.
To improve the contributor experience, I propose creating a simple, centralized page on the website that consolidates all important information related to Trainer v2. This would be similar in spirit to Kubeflow Pipelines’ community and support page, but specifically focused on:
- Listing and linking to the GitHub issues and the GitHub project board
- Mentioning relevant Slack channels
- Linking to active discussion documents and threads
- Providing basic context and a quickstart for potential contributors
While this is a small addition, it has the potential to save new contributors significant time—even 10-15 minutes of context-gathering upfront can make a big difference in onboarding. It also encourages open-source engagement by making it easier for people to jump in and start helping out.
