Scanning a Folder full of images is SLOW. Painfully SLOW.
Is there any way to speed this up?
On my modest Windows laptop, scanning a folder of 80 cr2 files for the first time takes a couple of seconds, which I don't consider painfully slow. Perhaps a less vague description - OS, number and format of images, computer specifications ... - would be more useful.
Intel Skylake Core i5-6600K, iGPU, 32GB DDR4 RAM, Velociraptor 10K rpm system disk (HDD), Photo HDD, 7200rpm.
Directory had about 4000 Fujifilm 16Mpxl .RAF format RAW files.
Took 4 or 5 minutes to load the directory, and started generating thumbnails. Got so frustrated I opened Task Manager and quit LightZone.
Enjoy! 🎈

laptop, i3, 8 GB, SSD, win10 600 photos in a folder, CR2, 24 MP LightZone 4.1.9: ~ 50 s RawTherapee 5.6 dev: ~ 70 s darktable 2.6.2: ~ 32 s
Nothing interesting here. For your huge amount of photos, I would set LZ to use maximum memory (should be 16 GB) and monitor, what is going on.
How do I set LightZone to use more than the default amount of RAM?
Thanks in advance
Enjoy! 🎈

In Edit - Preferences - General - there is a Memory Limit slider. Drag it all the way to the right, it should allow LightZone to use about half of the installed memory.
Thank you! Found it.
Enjoy! 🎈
