Mac 10.10.4 (14E46) with Eclipse Kepler SR2, Eclipse hangs when starting Matlab, works after force quit of Matlab

Hi, I'm not sure I've got Matclpise installed correctly, but when I start up Eclipse with the Matlab Workbench view selected I get the "beach ball" icon until I force quit Matlab, and then Eclipse is usable but not with Matlab, but I think that's because it's using a previous version of Matclipse. I'm not sure what is meant by "Create run configuration with features available in workspace", can you elaborate?
