Base was deleted by server owner

Open zookeper opened this issue 3 years ago • 17 comments

Yeah so your ritual of bullshit that seems to cause server loop crashes got my base deleted so can you please remove your shit work untill it gets fixed please.

Ritual of the Martyr [woot] crashes on activation on public server and can't be deactivated. deleting the source does not fix the problem either it makes all woot sources a problem of error this resulted in my base getting deleted and to top it off you hide that ritual inside someone else's mod (blood magic) makes it seem intentional.

just an fyi there was no way to recover my base. this is a lot of work and time gone. Things like this shouldn't be active. You really should tend to your mod. if something seems broken this much and you cant fix it FUCKING REMOVE IT.

Your base being deleted isn't the mod issue. That is on your server operator for not having a backup to restore. And I have yet to see this issue on my server of 300+ different players yet. Some sort of log would really help. Try to reproduce in single player. Also include what mod pack you are using. Also calm down ffs.

@zookeper sorry to hear you had troubles. Server node app is rather thin - most of the work is done in the browser via the client app. Loops are probably possible but socket.io lib should handle these. I haven't experienced the issue you describe. Are you sure it was woot indeed? Any logs or steps to reproduce? Deleting source code does not stop the app when it is executed in server memory - you have to restart the node server.

I am not sure. I had suggested to Blood magic that it was his mod that caused the loop as it crashed on activation of the ritual but they suggested it was not his mod that is causing the crash so I assumed it was the fact that I had built a Tier V without the upgrades in it for the ritual and activated it.

To be honest I cant even join without the server instantly crashing and they don't seem to know how to fix it.

I didn't get a crash log on my client side.

I had built a Tier V woot tower with villager controllers exactly as this picture without the upgrades in it and it just crashed on activation. The woot farm was not given conatus fluid either. bm_altar

I had a T 4 blood magic altar with displacement runes in it. Nothing else was hooked up.

zookeper avatar Nov 24 '21 23:11 zookeper

I did require to build the altar underneath the woot farm as there wasn't any room left above it.

I have started a singleplayer world which I will grind all my stuff back in safety.... lol I will do some further testing if I can replicate the bug maybe it will give me a crash log.

image Well actually I think the owner of this mod said it needed a node restart and I'm not sure if the server owner knew how to do that but the reality is that your comment doesn't help anyone because the actual owner of the server is a host and the MC server is owned by someone who is not the host.... so... His only resolution to try to get me back in was to delete the lag, which was a 20x20x30 area around the BM ritual. that didnt work. so my base got deleted... as to be perfectly frank with you not all server hosts provide complete control over your servers so it's either delete the issue or have the world get corrupted.

And I can't imagine deleting my NBT data would have resolved the issue so to be clear i just haven't joined back and probably wont.

But the owner of the mod still needs feedback....

zookeper avatar Nov 24 '21 23:11 zookeper

Calm down? I lost a lot of stuff. his server wouldn't even start and there was no log. lmao.

zookeper avatar Nov 24 '21 23:11 zookeper

his last ditch attempt was to delete the area to save his server, not to fix my client. i still cant join. I don't think the kids know how to do a node reset. 🥉 I just donated a few bucks for the trouble and havent joined again.

zookeper avatar Nov 24 '21 23:11 zookeper

actually most rented servers can you even do a node reset on them?

zookeper avatar Nov 24 '21 23:11 zookeper

Oh and what server do you run that is on ATM 6-1.8.9?

Because there are only 3 public servers listed and they don't have 300 active players on it.....

If you have a stable server please link it because I would rather play with people than alone but like.

I keep loosing time and stuff because of servers that I do not control.

After realizing how many people merge mods and that it may not even be the mod devs fault even if it is their mod that is crashing it i retract my crappy statement when i freaked out and called your mod bad. It's not bad. I was just really frustrated because in the middle of troubleshooting people keep asking me for things that are not produced like log files or just running me in circles blaming it on one thing or another.

@zookeper now I see. You are probably raising issues in the wrong github repo. Did you mean to do it here: https://github.com/Ipsis/Woot/wiki instead? This repo is a collaborative rich text editor effort that has nothing to do with Minecraft.
